Avan Ivan Movie Review | silentcritics.com

Director Bala’s latest release “Avan Ivan” turns out to be a complete disaster right from the beginning till the end. The movie is nowhere near to a trademark Bala film. Bala has ventured into a full comedy genre through this film but the so called comic scenes are very far and few and the little comic sequences fail to create an impact on the audience. Bala with his previous releases like “Pithamagan” and “Naan Kadavul” to name a few have created a huge hype and expectation on this film and this “Avan Ivan” doesn’t even meet 10% of the expectations which is really a sad scenario. “Kaavalan” was a movie that was a real test for Vijay outside the cinema arena. The movie was in turbulence with regard to its release and it was importantly a prestige issue for the actor to make sure that the film got released for Pongal. There were too many things said and read in between the lines and in the end the film finally managed to hit the screens on 15th Jan 2011 which has brought in cheers to his fans who were not sure whether the film would get released or not 24 hours back. Ilaignan Movie Review | silentcritics.com

“Ilaignan” springs in a surprise for the viewers as it ends up being a film that has all commercial ingredients in it. The hero is down to earth and suits the character portrayed while the heroine is a homely girl and for the front benchers there is Namitha who has put on more weight and sizzles in costumes that are meant for appropriate reasons. This movie is Kalaignar Karunanithi’s 75th film and incidentally it is also director Suresh Krissna’s 50th film. Read More

Siruthai Movie Review | silentcritics.com

“Siruthai” which is the re-make of the Telugu Super-hit “Vikramarkudu” ends up being a huge disappointment. The movie has Karthi in dual role and in the female lead it has Tamannah Bhatia. The major lapse that this Siruthai carries on its shoulder is the weak screenplay which has apparently been tweaked to suit the taste of Tamil audience. Read More

Eesan Movie Review | silentcritics.com

Director M.Sasikumar after a scintillating directorial debut in “Subramaniapuram” has fallen flat in his second venture titled “Eesan” (Spelt as “Easan”). The storyline moves from one plot to another and though the sequence of events may sound logical, there are lot of loop holes in the flow which could have been avoided. In fact when “Subramaniapuram” was released the twist in the storyline was so refreshing that viewers were in awe of the film irrespective of it containing too many violent scenes. In “Eesan” however the storyline is as old as one can remember the only difference being the first half of the movie that concentrates more on establishing the night life in Chennai. Read More

Piranha Movie Review | silentcritics.com

“Piranha” begins on a stylish note but within minutes into the movie, the plot is thrown wide open and to make matters worse unnecessary nudity and gore is pumped too much into the storyline which makes this movie an average B-grade flick. The storyline is cliched and its screenplay cant get any bad. The film’s director Alexandre Aja has decided that high content of nudity will work wonders for the film, which in reality does not work beyond a point. Read More

Mynaa Movie Review | silentcritics.com

At the outset the movie looks like any other village based love subject with not so good looking actors in the lead. The movie did come in for lot of praise from Kamal Hassan, Director Bala and Udayanithi Stalin. “Mynaa” is definitely different from the run of the mill films. Director Prabhu Solomon who earlier made films like “King” and “Lee” has dealt with a subject which does leave an impact on the audience. Read More

Mankatha Trailer on 20th August 2010 | silentcritics.com

Ajithkumar who shed the “Ultimate Star” tag in the 49th film of his career titled “Asal” ended up being a miserable flop to say the least. Disappointed with the result, Ajith wanted to make his landmark 50th film truly memorable.
